Tim Buckley discussed AirTrunk’s proposed Kurri data centre, welcoming its proposed $3.7 billion investment, 350 ongoing jobs and community benefits, including a $37 million infrastructure fund, a $12 million sporting and multipurpose community facility, and a potential $200 annual electricity bill reduction for around 5,000 households for up to 20 years. He stressed that these commitments should be legally binding as part of the project’s approval. Tim also highlighted AirTrunk’s proposed 90-100% renewable energy target by 2030, dry-air cooling with no direct water use, and potential grid benefits. He said data centres must deliver genuine, measurable benefits to local communities.
