EVENTS | Conference on Transmission Infrastructure Australia

11-12 February 2026 | Swissôtel Sydney

Industry leaders gathered at Swissôtel Sydney for the 2026 Conference on Transmission Infrastructure Australia, focusing on one central theme: resilience is key to delivering Australia’s energy transition.

The opening plenary, “Accelerating Australia’s Transmission Transformation,” set the tone, highlighting transmission as critical infrastructure underpinning the nation’s target of 82% renewables by 2030. Discussions explored system needs for renewables, regulatory reform to enable predictable grid development, and strategies to accelerate infrastructure build-out.

Technology and innovation featured strongly, with sessions on expanding grid capacity, addressing transmission supply chain challenges, and integrating EVs, DERs, and BESS into a two-way energy system, where Tim contributed to the conversation.

Other key topics included siting and permitting solutions, securing social licence through stronger community partnerships, financing Australia’s grid transformation, and Western Power’s priorities for investing in the grid of the future.

The conference closed with a forward-looking discussion on strategy for 2026 and beyond, reinforcing that collaboration, innovation and decisive action will define the next chapter of Australia’s transmission evolution.
