Ambassador Xiao Qian Farewelled at Chinese Embassy in Canberra
Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian hosted a farewell reception at the Chinese Embassy in Yarralumla, Canberra, on 28 July, welcoming more than 200 guests from government, the diplomatic community, business and community organisations. The reception was held in a warm and engaging atmosphere. Climate Energy Finance was represented by Li Ang.
In his speech, Ambassador Xiao reflected on the progress made in China-Australia relations during his more than four years in the role. He highlighted stronger political engagement, growing trade and investment, increased people-to-people exchanges, and closer cooperation through multilateral forums. He also reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening the China-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Deputy Secretary of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Elly Lawson, thanked Ambassador Xiao for his contribution to Australia-China relations and reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to continuing cooperation across a range of areas.
